Oliemeesters B.V. places great importance on protecting your personal data. In this privacy statement, we explain clearly and transparently what data we process, why we do so, and what rights you have. We handle your data with care and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data do we process?

Depending on your use of our online store and services, we may process the following personal data:

  • Name, address, and contact details: first and last name, address, email address, and telephone number.
  • Business details (for business customers): company name, Chamber of Commerce number, VAT identification number, and, if provided, a business email address.
  • Order and customer data: your orders, order history, delivery address, and any account details.
  • Payment data: the information required to process your payment. Your full payment details are processed by our payment service provider; we do not store them ourselves.
  • Communication data: the content of your emails, messages, and telephone contact with our customer service.
  • Reviews: the information you leave when you submit a review, such as your name and the content of your review.
  • Newsletter data: your email address and any interests, when you sign up for our newsletter.
  • Technical and browsing data: your IP address, device and browser details, and your browsing behavior on our Website, collected through cookies and similar technologies. See Article 7.

3. Why do we process your data and on what legal basis?

We process your personal data exclusively for clearly defined purposes and on the basis of a valid legal basis:

4. Who do we share your data with?

We share your data exclusively with parties that help us provide our services, and only to the extent necessary. We have concluded data processing agreements with these parties (processors), which establish the protection of your data. We never sell your data to third parties.

We engage, among others, the following parties:

5. Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Some of our processors, including Google, Microsoft, Klaviyo, Hotjar, Meta and Pinterest, are based in or process data in the United States. Where your data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards. This is done on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or, where applicable, on the basis of the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission.

6. How long do we retain your data?

We do not retain your data longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as long as we are legally required to do so:

Order data and invoices 7 years, pursuant to the statutory tax retention obligation.
Account data As long as your account exists. You can have your account deleted at any time.
Newsletter data Until you unsubscribe; after that, your data will be removed from our mailing list.
Customer service correspondence 1 year after your question or complaint has been handled.
Reviews As long as the review is displayed on the Website, or until you request its removal.
Technical and browsing data In accordance with the retention periods of the relevant cookies; see Article 7.

7. Cookies

Our Website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit the Website.

We use:

  • Functional and necessary cookies: required for the Website and online store to function properly, for example for the shopping cart. No consent is required for these cookies.
  • Analytics cookies: to measure and improve use of the Website, including through Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Hotjar. This enables us to map visitor numbers, traffic sources and use of the Website, partly through session recording.
  • Marketing and tracking cookies: to tailor advertisements to your interests and measure the performance of our advertisements, including through Google Ads, Microsoft (Bing), Meta and Pinterest. We only place these cookies with your consent.

When you first visit the Website, we ask for your consent via a cookie notice to place analytics and marketing cookies. These cookies are only placed after you have given your consent. You can adjust or withdraw your preferences at any time via the cookie settings on the Website, and delete cookies via your browser settings.

8. How do we protect your data?

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. Our Website uses a secure connection (SSL). The parties we engage are also required to implement appropriate security measures.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: you may request which data we process about you.
  • Right to rectification: you may have incorrect data corrected or supplemented.
  • Right to erasure: you may ask us to delete your data, insofar as we are not legally obliged to retain it.
  • Right to restriction: you may ask us to temporarily restrict the processing of your data.
  • Right to object: you may object to the processing of your data, for example for direct marketing.
  • Right to data portability: you may ask us to transfer your data to you or to another party.
  • Right to withdraw consent: if you have given consent, you may withdraw it at any time. For example, you can unsubscribe from each newsletter via the link at the bottom of the email.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, send an email to info@groothandelolie.nl. To ensure that the request originated from you, we may ask you to identify yourself. We will respond as soon as possible, and no later than within one month.

10. Filing a complaint

If you disagree with the way we handle your data, please contact us first at info@groothandelolie.nl. If we cannot resolve the matter together, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Dutch supervisory authority for privacy protection (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

11. Amendments

We may amend this privacy statement from time to time, for example when our services or applicable legislation give cause to do so. The most current version can always be found on our Website. We recommend that you consult this statement regularly.
