How is Sunflower oil made?
The sunflower actually comes from North America and is spreading further and further south. The Incas worshiped the sunflower as the face of God. At the end of the 16th century it was brought to Europe by Spanish sailors.
The sunflower plant with its coarsely hairy stem grows between one and two meters high. The unmistakable blooming yellow daisy flower usually points continuously east.
The sunflower oil comes from the seeds, the sunflower seeds, in the flower head. They are peeled, ground and then gently cold pressed.
